On a 20-year-old foundation, we are constructing an annex to a small log cabin. The roof overhang is supported by untreated tree trunks. The extension is built using wood, which is alive and breathes while absorbing CO2. We have taken inspiration from the unique features of the main house and the homeowner’s nostalgic stories of the sound of rain during a memorable period. Drawing from the character of the main house and the homeowner’s narratives, we have designed an annex that not only serves practical purposes but also carries a distinct aesthetic and emotional value for the homeowner.
